Driver app terms

These terms apply when you use the Recovu driver app or driver features on recovu.co.uk. By using Recovu, you accept these terms in full. If you disagree, do not use the app or website.

Recovu is operated by Recovu Ltd (Company Number 15760948), 7 Bell Yard, London, WC2A 2JR. Contact: info@recovu.co.uk.

Using Recovu

  • You may browse recovery jobs without creating an account. Some features, such as posting a job or receiving alerts, require a verified phone number or device permissions you choose to grant.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of quotes, job posts, and contact details you submit through Recovu.
  • Recovu does not employ drivers. You remain an independent operator and are responsible for your licences, insurance, equipment, and compliance with applicable law.
  • Job listings may originate from third parties or other drivers. Recovu does not guarantee availability, accuracy, or suitability of any job.
  • Any recovery work you take on is between you and the customer or job poster. Recovu is not a party to that arrangement and does not perform recovery services.

Acceptable use

You must have authority to submit every job, location, vehicle detail, note, and contact number you provide. Do not include another person's personal information unless you have a lawful reason and their permission where required.

  • You must not misuse the platform, scrape data, spam users, or attempt to circumvent technical limits or security controls.
  • You must not post content that is illegal, dangerous, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, deceptive, defamatory, infringing, sexually explicit, spam, or invasive of another person's privacy.
  • Do not impersonate another person or business or submit false or misleading jobs.
  • Do not use Recovu to arrange unlawful work or create an unsafe situation.

Job posts and moderation

When you submit content, you give Recovu permission to host, reproduce, display, format, filter, and make it available as needed to operate the service. You keep ownership of your content and remain responsible for it.

We may automatically check, hold, review, edit the visibility of, or remove submitted content. We may restrict or block accounts that misuse the service. Drivers can report a job and hide direct posts from the same poster. Report suspected abuse to info@recovu.co.uk.

Safety

Recovu is not an emergency service. Call 999 where there is immediate danger. Do not use the app while driving or whenever doing so would be unsafe or unlawful. Stop somewhere safe before reading, posting, or responding to jobs.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Recovu is not liable for any recovery work you perform, any agreement you enter into through the platform, or any acts or omissions of other users. Recovu's total liability for any claim related to your use of the driver app is limited to £100.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page. Continued use of Recovu after changes means you accept the updated terms.

Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains how Recovu collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use the driver app and related services. It should be read together with the driver app terms above.

Who we are

The data controller is Recovu Ltd (Company Number 15760948), 7 Bell Yard, London, WC2A 2JR. Contact: info@recovu.co.uk.

What we collect

  • Your phone number and Firebase account identifier when phone verification creates or signs you into an account
  • Direct job data, including pickup and drop-off locations, vehicle details, passenger and mobility information, notes, posting status, and moderation state
  • The base location or postcode you save for nearby jobs and alerts, which is separate from foreground device location requested while you use location features
  • Push tokens or web push endpoints, alert preferences, and device or installation identifiers used to deliver and maintain alerts
  • Automatically collected analytics, including a persistent app-generated identifier, page and feature events, user-property flags, and technical performance data
  • Technical and security data such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, app version, diagnostics, and approximate location derived from IP
  • Reports, support messages, and account-deletion requests you send us

Public job information

Driver-created jobs are publicly accessible in Recovu. The job details you submit are shown to drivers, and your submitted phone number is made available so drivers can contact you about that job, including through WhatsApp. Do not submit a number you are not authorised to share for this purpose.

How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • Show recovery jobs near you and power search and matching features
  • Send job alerts you opt into
  • Let drivers and job posters contact each other about jobs
  • Operate, secure, and improve Recovu
  • Prevent abuse, fraud, and misuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data.

Legal basis (UK GDPR)

  • Contract: to provide the service you request, such as showing jobs or delivering alerts
  • Consent: for optional permissions such as push notifications or precise location
  • Legitimate interests: to secure our platform, understand product usage, and improve reliability, balanced against your rights
  • Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose data by law

Notifications and location

Job alerts and device location access are optional. You can turn alerts off in Settings. Turning alerts off disables delivery but does not necessarily immediately delete the server push record. You can change your saved base location in Settings. Foreground device location is requested only when you use a feature that needs it. You can withdraw notification or location permission using your iOS or Android device settings.

Analytics

Google Analytics 4 automatically measures use of the app and landing page, including page views, feature events, user-property flags, technical performance, and a persistent identifier generated for the app installation or browser. Google may process IP address and device information. We use this information to understand and improve Recovu. Advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalisation are disabled, and we do not use this data for personalised advertising. Analytics data is not described as anonymous or optional. Learn more at Google's privacy policy.

We do not intentionally send submitted phone numbers, names, postcodes, coordinates, job text, or vehicle details to Google Analytics.

Service providers

Organisations that may receive or process data while helping us operate Recovu include:

  • Google Firebase (hosting, phone authentication, database, notifications, and security)
  • Google Analytics (usage measurement)
  • Google Maps (location and mapping features, where used)
  • Apple and Google push-notification services
  • Slack, where operational, moderation, report, or deletion-request messages are sent

These organisations handle data under their own terms and applicable data-protection responsibilities. We limit shared information to what is reasonably needed for the relevant service.

Retention

We keep account, job, location, alert, and support data only for as long as reasonably needed to provide Recovu, handle reports, protect the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Closed jobs and disabled push records may remain for a limited period. Analytics data follows the retention period configured in Google Analytics. Backups may retain deleted data until they are routinely overwritten.

Account deletion

You can request account deletion in Settings or through our public account-deletion page. We aim to complete a verified request and confirm completion within 30 days. Open public jobs are hidden when an authenticated in-app request is received.

We delete the Firebase authentication account and account-linked records, jobs, saved locations, push identifiers, and alert preferences unless limited information must be retained for legal obligations, security, fraud prevention, disputes, or to record that a deletion request was fulfilled. Information may remain in routine backups until those backups are overwritten.

Security

We use measures such as phone authentication, access controls, app verification, restricted database access, validation, and monitoring. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EEA you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of your personal data, and object to certain processing. You may also lodge a complaint with the ICO (ico.org.uk). Contact info@recovu.co.uk to exercise your rights, object to processing, or raise a privacy complaint.

Children

Recovu is intended for adults operating recovery businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.

International transfers

Some processors (including Google) may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes may also be communicated in the app where appropriate.
